Did Jesus Go to Hell?
“And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.” —Luke 23:43
“How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.” —2 Corinthians 12:4

Books and Church from God’s Perspective
My friend, Charisse Graves, writes an article that is posted on the weblog of another friend of mine, Dwayna Litz.
A cursory glance at the titles found in Christian bookstores, storefront or online it matters not, should give us cause for concern. The shenanigans occurring in the name of Christ in order to make a buck seems to make the temple mount of our Lord’s day look like child’s play. Sister Charisse’s observations have caused her to ponder: Continue reading
The Necessary Effectual Call
Some men think an invitation, an outward call, a rational discourse, will do; but they are much deceived, there must a power, an exceeding great and mighty power, attend the Word, or it worketh not effectually to the salvation of the soul. Continue reading
Persecuting Christ
“And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.” —Acts 9:5 Continue reading

Meet Paul Snider – Missionary
Paul has been to the Papua mission field with his family to minister to the remote people of that region. He has recently traveled with Trevor Johnson while Brother Trevor was on furlough with his family; and both Paul and Trevor have presented the blessed work God is doing through them in Indonesia and Papua to our congregation here in Anniston, Alabama. Continue reading

Righteous Grace 2
It’s one thing to feel good about the Gospel, but it is quite another to really grasp its ramifications. I’ve met many professed Christians, for example, who are ‘martyrs’ to a bad conscience. They know the words “saved by grace,” but suspect that grace means God’s lackadaisical kindness. Not having understood that the grace which saves is righteous grace, they have no foundation and no peace. The gospel they know does not minister calm to their minds or conscience (Jeremiah 6:14). Continue reading

Dealing with Sin
“Let no man think to kill sin with few, easy, or gentle strokes. He who hath once smitten a serpent, if he follow not on his blow until it be slain, may repent that ever he began the quarrel; and so he who undertakes to deal with sin, and pursues it not constantly to the death.” Continue reading
Promoting Self or Proclaiming the Savior
“Thus saith the LORD, The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool: where is the house that ye build unto me? and where is the place of my rest?” —Isaiah 66:1 Continue reading

Expository Preaching
A very thoughtful article on expository preaching was posted at THE GOSPEL COALITION yesterday. Written by Iain H. Murray, he offers some of the same insights and conclusions that I had been coming to over the last few years with regard to pulpit preaching. Perhaps this link isn’t for everyone; nevertheless, it is well worth the read for any current or prospective ministers of the Word of God. Below is an excerpt from the article: Continue reading

On the Jesus Manifesto Review
I had written a review of Jesus Manifesto and my comments section closed automatically after seven days. I explained that in a later post; and though many may not like it, they are entitled to their opinion, yet it will not change what my family and I have prayerfully decided concerning my activities on the Internet.
