Prayer IS the Battle

SADLY, MANY CHRISTIANS see prayer as preparation for the battle, when intercessory prayer is the battle.

Because the return of Christ is imminent, and because the gospel is so precious, the beloved saint is bestowed by God’s grace with a desire to tell all he can of the blessed truth of Christ, and Him crucified. Often, we truly desire to seize every opportunity to proclaim Jesus Christ; however, because of our remaining corruptions, although we are most certainly saved by God’s grace, we might blurt out something wrong at the worst possible time. Why is that? It is because we haven’t spent that needful time with Christ by devotional and intercessory prayer. We haven’t agonized in prayer in the prayer closet of our own Gethsemane; neither have we persevered in prayer until the certainty of Christ’s atoning death upon that tree is the very heart beat of our soul and the most intimate meditation of our thoughts; and thus, we have not given ourselves the opportunity for the Lord to minister to us, to fill our hearts with His power from on high, while simultaneously preparing the hearts of those to whom His Spirit will efficaciously call unto Himself for His glory.
